Why does god hate Tattoos?

I have had a lot of Christians/ Evangelicals tell me tattoos are a sin, and I am going to hell. Now why do they say these ignorant things to me or anyone? I have a friend who has a christian band they play at churches and church events and people love there music but there is always at least one person who comes up to him after a show and goes your message is amazing to bad you going to hell because of the tattoos. Explain to me why?
