How long can thawed, raw chicken last outside refridgerator?

I thawed 7 chicken in water yesterday. I used 2 of the right after, and planned to use the rest for dinner. I thought my husband had already stuck the other in the fridge, and we left for the afternoon. When we came home, about 5 hours later, I realized it was still in the sink (without water). It still felt cool to the touch, and I put it in the fridge, but is it ok to cook it up and eat it without getting sick?
