How much cheaper is it to turn the heating on and off when needed rather than rely on the thermostat?

I'm just wondering how much it costs to leave the boiler on constant if the heating doesn't click on because the house is too warm. Basically I want to know whether its worth turning the heating on and off at the boiler or whether it actually doesn't cost that much to have the boiler 'on' if the heating hasnt clicked on
